MANILA – A senior lawmaker is pushing for a full-scale investigation into an alleged network involving businessman Michael Yang and Sammy Uy, following developments in the House Committee on Justice hearings.
Batangas Rep. Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro said the issue deserves a deeper probe after portions of former senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s sworn statement were found to match records from the Anti-Money Laundering Council.
Luistro said the committee’s initial validation of selected transactions has raised the level of concern, especially since the documents point to significant financial movements linked to the individuals named.
She stressed that the references to large payouts and identified personalities should not be treated as minor or incidental details.
According to Luistro, the appearance of repeated names in the records suggests a possible organized system rather than isolated financial transfers.
She called for investigators to map out the full scope of the alleged network, including the parties involved, the flow of money, and its possible sources.
The lawmaker said the April 22 House hearing was pivotal, as it moved the discussion from unverified claims to evidence-based examination of official records.
She also cited findings that 19 randomly selected transactions mentioned in Trillanes’ affidavit corresponded with AMLC data.
For Luistro, the consistency between the sworn statement and official documents strengthens the basis for further inquiry into the alleged network.
