MANILA — A 39-year-old man was found dead along the hallway of a condominium in Tondo, Manila on Saturday night, while the 27-year-old suspect in the alleged flogging incident was also found dead, police said Sunday.
The Manila Police District said the victim, a 39-year-old male born August 23, 1986 in Oriental Mindoro and last residing at Urban Deca Homes on Velasquez Street, Tondo, was discovered at about 9:12 PM on April 19, 2026 along the hallway of the 8th floor, Building 2 of the condominium complex.
Responding officers from Raxabago Police Station (PS-1) said the victim sustained fatal injuries in what was initially reported as an alleged flogging incident.
Police identified the suspect as a 27-year-old male, born July 8, 1998, an employee of J&T and also a resident of Deca Homes, Velasquez Street. He was likewise found dead.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of death of the suspect pending autopsy results.
The MPD Scene of the Crime Operatives are conducting forensic examination to determine the sequence of events.
Police listed three witnesses in the initial report:
A 43-year-old married sales agent, resident of Deca Homes, Velasquez Street, Tondo
A 40-year-old single lady guard residing at Parola Compound, Tondo
A 31-year-old jobless resident of Aroma Compound, Barangay 105, Tondo, who lives with a partner
Investigators are taking statements from the witnesses to establish the circumstances leading to the deaths.
MPD said the case remains under follow-up investigation. Both bodies were brought to a funeral home for safekeeping and autopsy examination.
No motive has been established as of press time. Police are checking CCTV footage from the building and interviewing other residents on the 8th floor.
“We are treating this as a death investigation with two fatalities. SOCO has processed the scene, and we are awaiting autopsy findings,” MPD-Raxabago Police Station said.
