
MANILA – A search operation is ongoing for two inmates who fled custody after escaping from a police patrol vehicle in Mariveles, Bataan.
The incident took place Tuesday morning as the detainees were being transported back to the police station after attending inquest proceedings.
Following the escape, two police officers assigned to the Mariveles Municipal Police Station were immediately removed from their posts and stripped of their firearms. Both are now under investigation and may face administrative charges.
According to the report, the officers acknowledged that the inmates managed to jump out of the vehicle while en route to the station. Despite attempts to pursue them, the suspects were able to evade arrest.
The escapees were identified as Jun Jun Jimenez and Jaypee Loquisan.
The Philippine National Police has launched a full-scale manhunt and is also reviewing possible liability on the part of the station commander under the principle of command responsibility.
