MANILA – In anticipation of the 48th ASEAN Leaders’ Summit, the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) is intensifying its security measures. Inspections of personnel and vehicles were conducted on Tuesday at Camp Crame under the supervision of acting director Brig. Gen. Rommel Batangan.
“Ensuring that our drivers are well-rested, healthy, and ready, as well as verifying that all vehicles are in prime condition, is essential. We are leaving nothing to chance,” Batangan said.
The operation will see 170 PNP-HPG members — 108 motorcycle riders, 38 drivers, and 24 crew members — deployed to Cebu under the Presidential Security Command. Their stay will extend through May 10, with 108 motorcycles and 38 service vehicles ready for traffic management, convoy escorts, and overall operational support.
Batangan emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts, saying, “Our goal is to guarantee the safety of ASEAN delegates and the public while ensuring efficient traffic flow during the summit.”
