The Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region has turned over four state-of-the-art massage chairs to the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) as part of its ongoing efforts to promote healthcare worker wellness.
The chairs are part of a broader initiative to support DOH hospitals in implementing the DOH Wellness Movement Playbook, which aims to promote healthy lifestyle habits, ensure a safe work environment, and prioritize mental wellness and stress management.
The Php1.1M grant will help ITRMC implement the playbook’s strategies, including physical activity, employee protection, and work-life balance.
The massage chairs will be installed in designated wellness spaces, accessible to healthcare workers during breaks and after duty hours.
“These wellness chairs symbolize our appreciation and commitment to the physical and mental well-being of our healthcare workers,” said Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco. “Investing in their welfare is an investment in better patient care.”
The DOH Ilocos Region has also provided a Php300K check to fund wellness package services, including facial, body massage, and other pampering services.
This initiative is part of the DOH’s 8-point Action Agenda to support healthcare workers’ welfare and rights.
