MANILA — The Supreme Court (SC) announced on Tuesday that it will forgo holding its summer session in Baguio City this year, citing the surge in fuel prices as a key factor.
Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo, after consulting with the SC En Banc, highlighted the Court’s responsibility to consider the country’s economic conditions while continuing to ensure the smooth administration of justice.
The 2026 Summer Sessions were originally scheduled from April 6 to April 30. Oral arguments for several cases will still proceed as planned, but they will now take place at the SC En Banc Session Hall in Manila:
G.R. No. 271059, et al. (Lagman et al. v. The Congress of the Philippines, et al.) – April 7 and 21, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
G.R. No. 257575 (Baluyot v. Antonio-Baluyot) – April 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
“The relocation is also part of the Court’s energy conservation measures under SC Memorandum Circular No. 02-2026, effective March 8, 2026, supporting broader government initiatives to mitigate the impact of rising fuel prices,” the Office of the Spokesperson said.
