LEGAZPI CITY — Three suspects, including a police corporal, were apprehended in Bicol on Friday as authorities conducted anti-drug operations that recovered methamphetamine worth more than PHP2 million.
PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Erosito Miranda said the corporal, stationed at the Philippine National Police – Highway Patrol Group’s Personnel Holding and Accounting Section, was found in possession of 16.8 grams of suspected shabu during a search warrant service in Baao, Camarines Sur. The estimated street value of the drugs is PHP114,240.
“This demonstrates our uncompromising stance against illegal drugs. PNP personnel who break the law, regardless of rank, will face justice,” Miranda said.
Meanwhile, in Minalabac, Camarines Sur, police arrested two men—26-year-old “Mar” from Pasig City and 27-year-old “Louie” from Taytay, Rizal. Officers confiscated three knot-tied plastic bags containing 300 grams of suspected shabu, valued at about PHP2,040,000.
The seized items are currently held by the Minalabac Municipal Police, with proper marking and inventory conducted on-site in the presence of the suspects and a witness.
All individuals are set to be charged under RA 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Miranda lauded the operation as a testament to the PNP’s intelligence-led approach and reaffirmed that anyone involved in drug activities will be held accountable.
