
MANILA – University of Santo Tomas outside hitters Josh Ybañez and Angge Poyos have emerged as the frontrunners in the Most Valuable Player (MVP) race following the conclusion of the first round in the UAAP Season 88 volleyball tournaments.
Ybañez continues to chase a third MVP crown, posting 158.000 Statistical Points (SP), while National University’s Michaelo Buddin (153.750 SP) and Leo Ordiales (152.083 SP) are hot on his heels. Far Eastern University’s Dryx Saavedra (127.083 SP) ranks fourth, followed by Mikko Espartero (124.583 SP) and Lirick Mendoza (124.167 SP). Top scorers such as University of the Philippines’ Olayemi Raheem (120.741 SP) and University of the East’s Raquim Aceron (120.385 SP) are placed seventh and eighth, with NU’s Jade Disquitado (120.000 SP) and FEU’s Amet Bituin (110.167 SP) completing the top ten.
In the women’s division, Poyos has taken a commanding lead with 156.22 SP, outpacing Adamson University’s Shaina Nitura by over nine points. Nitura is trailed by De La Salle University’s Angel Canino (142.800 SP), the Season 85 Rookie MVP.
Completing the women’s Top 10 are Frances Mordi (139.200 SP), Gerzel Petallo (137.500 SP), Shevana Laput (131.600 SP), Jaz Ellarina (126.667 SP), Sam Cantada (123.704 SP), Reg Jurado (120.000 SP), and Fhei Sagaysay (118.000 SP).
The UAAP Season 88 second round kicks off Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
