MANILA – Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala has achieved a new career-high position of World No. 28 in the live rankings of the Women’s Tennis Association after her strong showing at the BNP Paribas Open.
The ranking update, released as of March 13, 2026, shows Eala improving from her earlier position of No. 32 as of March 2, reflecting the ranking points she earned during the tournament.
Contrary to some reports circulating on social media and YouTube suggesting that the Filipina dropped several places in the rankings, the latest live standings indicate that her performance in Indian Wells actually propelled her higher.
Eala made headlines during the tournament after advancing to the Round of 16, highlighted by victories over Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska and American tennis star Coco Gauff.
Her run eventually ended against Czech player Linda Noskova, but the deep tournament run proved enough to secure a significant rise in the rankings.
The latest milestone marks another step forward for Eala as she continues to build her presence on the global tennis stage, with her next challenge expected at the upcoming Miami Open.
