
MANILA — AEP Cabstars soared to a 25-18, 25-19, 25-22 win over VNS Always Bright Laticrete on Friday, with Jay Rack de la Noche leading the way with 18 points, including 14 attacks and four aces, at the Filoil Playtime Centre during the Spikers’ Turf Open Conference.
The win improves the Cabstars’ record to 3-3, allowing them to share third place with the Alpha Insurance Protectors.
Newcomer Jared Schnake contributed 14 points from 10 attacks, three blocks, and an ace. Middle blockers Nas Gwaza and Michael Doria added nine and seven points, respectively.
“Our preparation in practice games and the team bonding exercises really paid off. We now have the chemistry to execute well on court,” commented AEP head coach Kitty Antiporta after the 70-minute match.
AEP controlled the match in attacks (45-37), blocks (7-4), and serving (7-0). Playmaker EJ Casaña delivered 19 precise sets, while Vince Lorenzo provided stability in defense with 15 receptions and 11 digs.
VNS Always Bright Laticrete’s Jerzy Santos scored 12 points, and both Winfred John Santos and Terrence Marticion added eight points each, extending the Griffins’ losing streak to seven games.
