MANILA, March 9, 2026 — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. announced on Monday that select government offices under the Executive branch will shift to a temporary four-day work week starting today (09 March 2026).
“Para naman sa bahagi ng pamahalaan: Simula sa Lunes, ika-9 ng Marso, pansamantala nating ipapatupad ang four-day work week sa ilang tanggapan ng ehekutibo,” Marcos said.
The reduced work week will not affect offices providing essential or emergency services, which will continue operating on their regular schedules.
Meanwhile, non-essential government activities, including study tours, team-building exercises, and meetings that can be conducted online, are temporarily suspended.
The move aims to help the government prepare for potential domestic challenges linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
