MANILA — The Palace on Sunday pushed back against Vice President Sara Duterte’s remarks questioning the government’s handling of the ongoing Middle East crisis, describing them as baseless.
Duterte earlier criticized the administration’s repatriation initiatives, saying deploying aircraft to bring Filipinos home was not difficult. She cited friends who reportedly managed to return from Dubai even while airspace closures were being reported.
She also alleged that some overseas Filipinos were hesitant to go back to the Philippines due to a perceived lack of employment opportunities.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said such statements reflect a lack of understanding of how government programs and decisions are implemented.
Castro emphasized that the administration evaluates the situation using verified data, broader circumstances, and consultations with concerned sectors.
She warned that forming conclusions based solely on personal accounts or hearsay could result in misguided assessments of the government’s efforts.
